It’s always nice to hit a little spinny one from the edge of the green and raise a few eyebrows from your playing partners. But are you making this more difficult than it could be? In previous blogs, I have touched on some of the technical aspects required to generate more spin but it’s equally important to have the equipment side covered.
1. Double down on using a premium golf ball with a urethane cover – this will result in lower ball speed and much greater friction.
2. Clean grooves – sounds like a simple one but I see many golfers with dirty grooves.
3. Fresh grooves – how old are your wedges? We are guilty of buying a new shiny driver but how much attention are your wedges getting?
4. Keep them dry – dry grooves will help improve a higher level of friction.
Put an emphasis on these simple equipment tips to help maximise your spin around the greens.
